JONATHAN ROSSING WINS GOLD AT GAY GAMES
Chicago, IL - Running side by side with the defending
champion the entire way, RunCoachJason.com
athlete Jonathan Rossing, a doctoral student in communication and
culture at
Indiana University, pulled away in the final stages
of the race to win the VII Gay
Games marathon on July 22 by 7 seconds in 2:48:00, a
PR by over four minutes. The Gay
Games, which began in 1982 in San Francisco, is an international, Olympic-style
sports and
cultural festival held every four years. From
July 15-22, nearly 12,000 athletes
from over 70 countries
participated in 30 sports.
This is
a great victory for Jonathan,
Coach Jason Karp said.
Its difficult to run a personal record
when there's only one other person with whom to run the entire
marathon. Despite that and
a very windy day, he still ran his best time ever. And
he beat a former collegiate All-American
in doing so. Based on his training and
prior races, including a 1:17 half-marathon,
he still has plenty of room
for improvement.
