One of the things I love most about the sport of running is that, in its simplicity of putting one foot in front of the other, it is also extremely complex.  When done correctly, it is a scientific endeavor to maximize one’s speed and endurance.  Few coaches or personal trainers are scientists, which limits their ability to help their athletes and clients.

I knew upon entering high school what I wanted to do.  Like many athletes, I had my own Olympic dreams.  It’s hard not to imagine, from time to time, winning a gold medal.  That happens when you get the opportunity to race Carl Lewis when you’re 16.  From running 100 meters faster than anyone else to entering the Olympic stadium after running for 26 miles, alone except for the thousands of screaming spectators, I have experienced it all.  But then the eyes open, and the mind hesitantly accepts that the extraordinary talent needed to achieve such lofty dreams is not part of the DNA of these legs.  The passion for the sport, for achieving excellence at the highest level, in sport and in life, will have to be directed elsewhere, in parts of a life that can be controlled.  RunCoachJason.com is the product of this passion.
